Can small/Local business owner’s blog?

Well quite simply of course you can. I was asked the other day by a local business owner what could I speak about. My reply was “how much do you know about your business and you’re Industry?” They promptly replied “what I don’t know about this business is not worth knowing” as you can imagine I smiled and said “you better start writing about it so”.

You see guys you are an expert all ready in your business and there are many people interested in listening to your advice your experiences and the solutions you offer. Also there are many people out there that want to know what your product or service will them and what value they will gain from your product and service.

So again can small/Local business owner’s blog?

First of all you have to understand what your potential customers and your colleagues want within the industry respectively. When it comes to your customers you put together a piece of content that answers their questions. You highlight the value they will gain from your product and service.
Too many small/local business owners dwell on the features of their products no one buys features they buy benefits. Customers want to know how their lives will benefit from purchasing your product or service. So at the end of the day you have to think outside the box when you’re wondering what you will blog about guys.

Blogging for your Small/Local Business:

A hotel manager said to me the other day they were finding it hard to come up with fresh content for their blog and social media. She said that she and another member of staff were managing their online presence.

She asked me would I take a look, so of course I did. Now to be fair their blog was really good and you could see they had put a lot of work into it.

Immediately however it became clear to me that they were looking too inwardly, what I mean here is they had a lot content on their business which was great but they needed to showcase their location as well.

People needed to see the benefits to them when they were visiting that city why that her hotel was the best place for them. They  were neglecting their location which was their real selling point.

In their location there was some other fantastic business for example clothes shops, music venues, restaurants, markets etc. Do not be afraid to promote other business in your area, think of the big picture.
This was an opportunity to really highlight the benefits for the potential customers. So guys start looking outside your business also. Too many business concentrate on the features of their business.

Blogging in your Industry
